mtn space is pleased to present Shut Your Eyes and Burst Into Flames, a solo exhibition by Vincent Stracquadanio. The show brings together a series of new paintings and a suite of small-scale drawings that explore the shifting edges of vision and perception. Floating between revelation and disappearance, Stracquadanio’s imagery; candlelit curtains, and interiors are engulfed in abstracted undulating expanses, navigating terrain where memory and mirage blur. The accompanying series of drawings extends this inquiry in quick succession, contextualizing Straquandanio's visual language and skillful hand. The paintings unfold like apparitions, rooms glimpsed in half-light, forms turning to shadow and curtains suspended mid-reveal. Across this new body of work, light is both actor and instigator, flickering between revelation and concealment. Images double and dissolve. Moments feel caught in perpetual transition, like a memory caught mid-change, or a warning whispered too late. The paintings mark their first presentation together and Straquandanios’s first time showing with mtn space in collaboration with Good Naked Gallery (New York, NY).
