Press Release

We are pleased to announce Vignettes: a solo show of work by Shannon Torrence. All work presented in Vignettes is specific to the Florida landscape. Torrence, a Florida native and self taught artist has kept the tradition of landscape painting alive. His style is derived from techniques used by the old masters. Often drawing inspiration from work that dates as far back as the18th century. As well as using color theory from the French, Torrence applies the random principles of abstraction and flair from American impressionists. With that said, Torrence does not grab too tightly to his artistic idols, modern touches of whimsy or wit are often nestled in his pastoral illusions.

Torrence's work is in private collections within and outside of the United States. He was also the recipient of the 2020 Artist in Residence at the Dry Tortugas, awarded by the National Parks Art Foundation.
