Press Release

mtn space gallery is pleased to present Nina Davidowitz: Chromatic Affinities, opening April 22, 2023.

On view will be a new series of paper collages by Lake Worth Beach-based artist Nina Davidowitz. To create this series, Davidowitz photographed the sunrise over local beaches every morning and transformed the compositions into cut paper on Bristol board. The collages reflect a new exploration for the artist, as she’s primarily worked in acrylic until this year, but they maintain her signature method of flattening color and shape into their most essential forms.

We will exhibit the collages alongside her established paintings of neighborhoods in South Florida featuring flattened planes and hardened edges to create a unique tribute to local scenery. mtn space will also debut a new limited edition print of Davidowitz’s work, courtesy of Kayrock Screenprinting in Brooklyn, NY.

Nina Davidowitz is a self-taught artist whose work has evolved over fifty years of experimentation. Ultimately, her work reflects her interests in nature, historic architecture and, in a spiritual sense, the magic and healing properties of light.

Davidowitz’s work has been featured in national and regional venues, and she has received awards from the NSPCA (National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic) in 2014 and 2016. In the summer of 2017, she was the Featured Artist in Acrylic Artist Magazine.
